Week At A Glance:
Math: What are the different angles? What are the various quadrangles and their properties? What are the different properties of lines, rays, and line segments? What are the characteristics of polygons?
Science: What are the characteristics of tornados? What is tornado safety? What are the characteristics of hurricanes? What is hurricane safety? What are the various instruments used in predicting weather and what do they measure?
Language Arts: How do I write a written response to what I read? The students will be writing in letter format, responses to passages they read in their Reader’s Journals. The district is beginning to evaluate how Spelling is taught. In doing so some high frequency (no excuse) word lists have been created for grades K-3. Fourth grades and above will be expected to be able to recognize and spell all words on the list. We will begin doing some pretesting this week to see what each student already knows and where they need to study and practice. Feel free to practice these with your child at home. See attached page. They will also be posted on our class website http://www.freewebs.com/vargo4thgrade/ .
Social Studies: Who are the Native Americans who live in the Eastern Woodland? Who are the Iroquios? What are
the Iroquios customs?
