Newsletter Nov. 17

4th Grade All-Stars

Week At A Glance:

Math: What is decimal place value? How do we compare and order decimals? Why are decimals useful? How do we estimate sums and differences of decimals? How do we add and subtract decimals? We will be reviewing decimals are preparing for a unit test on place value of whole numbers and decimals.
1st period students will be having their test on Friday, November 21, 2008.
2nd period students will be having their test on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.

Science: What is electricity? How do electric charges discharge? What do I include in a list of procedures for an experiment? We will continue work on group science fair projects. Be on a look out for a of list materials your child needs to provide for the experiment. If your child is completing a science fair project at home please have them turn in a note detailing what their project is and what their plan is to carry it out. Language Arts: We will be working on various language arts skills through our Social Studies curriculum this week. NO Spelling words nor story this week.

Social Studies: We will cover from Columbus’ voyages through New European Colonies. Our Chapter 4 isn’t very long so we will be doing various activities as well as an open book quiz. No prior preparation to the quiz is needed this week. We will do ALL preparing in class. The following week we will discuss the first colonies.

· Due to the short week next week this will be the final newsletter for November. We trust you all have a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving, spending time with family and friends and being mindful of the many blessings you have.

· November 26-28 – Thanksgiving Holidays – No School
· December 18 – White Christmas Program (1:00 p.m.)
· December 22-January 4 – Christmas Holidays – No School
