(Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Vargo)
Week At A Glance:
Math: How do we multiply whole numbers? What happens to the product when one of the factors is changed in a multiplication problem?
Science: What is electricity? How do electric charges discharge? What do I include in a list of procedures for an experiment? We will begin conducting our group science fair projects. Be on a look out for a of list materials your child needs to provide for the experiment. If your child is completing a science fair project at home please have them turn in a note detailing what their project is and what their plan is to carry it out. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Check out my blog for science fair ideas: www.scienceandmathwithmrssmith.blogspot.com
Language Arts: We will be working on learning how to summarize a given passage. We will also be learning about complex sentences. Comprehension Quiz and Spelling Test will be Thursday this week.
Social Studies: We will continue our discussion of the Pilgrims and their journey to establish Plymouth Colony. We will also learn about the 13 English Colonies.
Special Announcements:
· We are beginning to plan for the Christmas party on December 19th. Instead of purchasing a gift to exchange, we are asking each family to send in $1.00 or more if you are able to. We will be purchasing gifts for one boy and one girl from the angel tree at Wal-Mart. This is a great opportunity to help another child whose family is struggling. The gifts purchased for the angle tree children will be on display at our parties. The children will help wrap these presents. Wouldn’t it be great if we had enough money brought in to sponsor SEVERAL children?! Please send in all money by December 15th. Be sure to watch for more information about party details.
Special Dates:
· December 18 – White Christmas Program (1:00 p.m.)
· December 19 - Class Christmas Parties Time to be announced
· December 22-January 4 – Christmas Holidays – No School
