4th Grade All-Stars
Monday, February 2, 2009
(Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Vargo)
Week At A Glance:

Math: How do various fractions compare in size (0, ½, and 1)? What are the numerator and denominator? How do we find fractional parts of sets? What are equivalent fractions? How do we find equivalent fractions?

Science: What are essential for the flow of electricity? What are the two types of circuits and how do they differ? We will finish our unit on electricity and test on Thursday.

Language Arts: We will continue to focus on trait writing, an instructional model that teaches students the seven main components of good writing. This week we will focus on organization: the internal structure of the piece, the thread of central meaning, the pattern of logic. Thank you for taking time Thursday night to interact with your child about their writing! We had a GREAT discussion Friday about things we learned and suggestions you made to help your child become a better writer. By giving your input we are making a POWERFUL team to spur your children along in their development! You are the BEST!

Social Studies: We will continue Chapter 8: The Road to War. We will begin to discuss a research project. More information to come!
