4th Grade All-Stars
Monday, March 2, 2009
(Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Vargo)
Week At A Glance:

Math: First period will have a test on fractions on Thursday March 5th. A study guide will be sent home on Monday. The study guide will have sample problems from the test. It is also in the same format the test will be in. How do various fractions compare in size (0, ½, and 1)? What are the numerator and denominator? How do we find fractional parts of sets? What are equivalent fractions? What are improper fractions and mixed numbers? Second period will begin a new unit on division and algebra.

Science: How does light travel? How can light be absorbed, reflected, or refracted by objects? How does light behave when it strikes materials? What is ROY G. BIV? We will be ending our unit on light this week. Be on a look out for a study guide.

Language Arts: We will focus on preparing for the PASS Writing Test which will be March 10 and 11. (NO story this week, NO Spelling words due to our test preparation)

Social Studies: Due to preparations for the PASS Writing Test we will take a break this week from Social Studies. The students did VERY well on their Research Projects. However, we did not have the opportunity to share them yet. If there are breaks in our schedule this week we will share a few. If not we will do this after March 11.
